If your son or daughter will be five by December 31, 2010, he/she is eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall of 2010. If your child will be three or four by that same date, they can be considered for Pre-Kindergarten enrolment. We invite you to call the school at 791-8542 or drop by to register your child for the beginning of the new fall term (September 2010). At that time, you will be asked to provide general registration information, i.e. name, address, phone number, etc.) You will be contacted later in the Spring regarding a Parent Information Meeting and orientation activities for our new Kindergarten students. Teacher contact and home visits for potential Pre-Kindergarten students will be conducted in June and September. Finally, we know there are families within our school community that will have a child who will be eligible for Pre-K and Kindergarten in the fall of 2010 and currently there are no siblings attending Arcola Community School. We would very much appreciate if our current Arcola parents would pass on this information about Kindergarten and Pre-K registrations to those families. We are already looking forward to wonderful Pre-K and Kindergarten class for next year! |

On the last school day of December, we were informed that the Ministry of Education has granted the final approval for the construction of the new Arcola Community School. This follows one full year of consultation with the school community and hours of work by parents, the school staff, the Regina Public School Division and the architectural firms retained to design the new building. The first tangible sign of the Arcola Rebuild getting underway is a "re-zoning" sign that has been placed at the southwest corner of the school playground by the City of Regina. We are also expecting within the new future that the initial stages of construction will be starting, with the first step being the removal of our remaining playground equipment and the construction of safety fencing that will cover a large part of the current playground. As construction gets underway, we will be looking at how we will be able to utilize what remains of our playground area and how that will affect our day to day operations. Discussions have already begun with the School Community Council about how this might occur and how we can ensure the safety of our students. We are excited about the fact that before the end of this school year, we will see the beginnings of our new school building. We trust that the community shares this feeling! |
