ARCOLA Community School

General Information:

The council meets monthly in the library to discuss upcoming events, strategies, fund raising, and receive updates from the principal, vice-principal & community coordinator. Everyone is welcome. Meetings are 6:30 – 8:00 and childcare is available. It is generally a good idea to rsvp to our meetings so we can contact you if we've had to reschedule. Childcare is provided for children aged 3-11, let us know if you will be bringing children so we can arrange for appropriate caregivers. You can contact us through the school or email us.

Fund Raising

Arcola Community School – School Community Council has started a few fund raising events. The staff at Arcola Community School have a lot of excellent ideas for special programs, events, and technologies for our children. We would like to purchase several new smart-boards and projectors as the ones we purchased last year have been so well received by students and teachers alike. Subsidizing transportation and field trips, new books for the library, and special programs for our children are common goals for all of us!

February Fundraisers

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Sysco & Mom's Pantry fundraisers. Even though we had only 5% of students participate, we still managed to raise enough money to purchase an extra smart board for the school. The hard work of those that participated is greatly appreciated. We would love to hear suggestions for next year's fundraiser and suggestions on how to get everyone involved. Monthly lunches

Taco Time sounded like a success. We did have a snag in that they didn't send out our order properly. Combo tacos should have included lettuce, tomato, cheese & sour cream while the plain tacos should have only had ground beef.

March 31^st, 2010 will be Pizza Hut. We will send more envelopes home to everyone in the next week.

Upcoming Events

We will be selling Arcola Dragons T-shirts! We will be taking orders & fittings in the school library during Parent Student Teacher Conferences. If you will not be at school that day but wish to place an order, let us know. We will surely be able to work something out for you.

Hot Dog Sales will be at Canadian Tire East on April 24^th and April 25^th, 2010. If you would like to volunteer helping us set up, clean up, or sell hot dogs, we welcome all help. Or you can just stop by, get a hot dog & support your school!
